City of Alameda Animal Shelter 1590 Fortmann Way Alameda, CA 94501 (510) 337-8565 | Tuesday - Friday: 11:00AM- 4:00PM Saturday: 10:00AM- 4:00PM Sunday - Monday: Closed | In 1997 the staff and volunteers at the City of Alameda Animal created a program to increase the number of adoptions of rabbits that passed through the shelter. The goal was to educate visitors and potential adopters about proper care and housing for house rabbits, and increase the number of adoptions. As part of the program, a limited number of large indoor kennels were dedicated for use by the rabbits. And so was born "Rabbit Row."
To learn more about the program, please visit our web site at RabbitRow.org.
Since there are always more bunnies patiently awaiting permanent homes than available kennel space, we rely on local volunteers to provide temporary foster homes.
Because we are a municipal facility, we can ONLY accept animals from within the City of Alameda.
For more information about the Alameda Animal Shelter bunnies, please contact us at RabbitRow@aol.com.
The Alameda Point Bunny Rescue is a small, independent rescue organization dedicated to helping the hundreds of feral domestic rabbits that inhabit the former Alameda Naval Air Station property now known as Alameda Point. Although not affiliated with the Alameda Animal Shelter, Alameda Point Bunny Rescue will often foster rabbits for us when all other foster homes are full, and always has bunnies in need of permanent homes.
For more information about the Alameda Point Bunny Rescue, please contact Robin at APBrescue@aol.com.
Veterinary care for the Alameda Animal Shelter and Alameda Point Bunny Rescue rabbits is provided by the doctors and staff at VCA Bay Area Animal Hospital in Oakland. We rely 100% on the kindness of our volunteers and the general public to provide the necessary funds to help these bunnies. Please contact us if you would like to help.
Note: The Alameda Animal Shelter and the Alameda Point Bunny Rescue are NOT nonprofit 501(c)3 organizations. Donations are NOT tax deductible.
